How do I transition from kibble to raw food?
Many pet parents choose to transition gradually by mixing small amounts of raw food with their dog’s current diet, slowly increasing the raw portion over a week or two. Others find their dogs do fine switching more quickly. Every dog is different, so it helps to watch for changes in digestion and adjust the pace as needed.
What are the benefits of a meat-based diet for my pet?
A lot of reports show shinier coats, smaller stools, more energy, and better overall condition when feeding a meat-based diet. Raw foods naturally contain protein, fats, and nutrients that may support digestion, skin, and muscle health. Since every dog is unique, results can vary.
How much raw food should I feed my dog?
A common starting point is 2–3% of your dog’s body weight per day, split into one or two meals. Puppies and very active dogs may need more, while older or less active dogs may need less. This is only a guideline. Each dog’s needs can differ based on age, metabolism, and activity.
Will switching to raw cause stomach upset?
Some dogs adjust right away, while others may experience softer stools or mild digestive changes at first. Transitioning slowly and introducing one protein at a time can make things easier. If your dog’s stomach seems sensitive, it’s best to take things step by step.
Can raw food help with allergies?
Reports have shown to have improvements in skin, coat, and itching when switching to raw, especially when avoiding certain fillers or additives. However, not all allergies are food-related, and results vary between dogs!
What changes should I expect when switching to raw?
In the short term, some dogs go through an adjustment period. Over time, many owners report benefits such as firmer stools, fresher breath, more lean muscle, and a healthier coat. Since every dog responds differently, changes can range from subtle to very noticeable.
